James Rizzi - The New York Paintings - Signed Copy with Original Drawing (2001)
Description
A rare and highly collectible copy of James Rizzi: The New York Paintings, published by Prestel. This particular example is an exceptional piece of memorabilia, personally signed and illustrated by the internationally acclaimed pop artist James Rizzi during his visit to Japan in 2001.
The highlight of this item is an original hand-drawn bird illustration — one of Rizzi’s most iconic motifs — boldly executed in black marker on the yellow flyleaf. The drawing is dedicated “To TAMURA” and signed “James Rizzi 2001,” making this a unique one-of-a-kind presentation copy.
James Rizzi was a pioneer of 3D pop art, celebrated worldwide for his colorful and optimistic depictions of New York City life. Since his passing, signed works and original sketches by the artist have become increasingly sought after among collectors.
The book itself serves as a comprehensive catalogue of Rizzi’s New York-themed works, featuring numerous high-quality color plates that vividly capture the energy and charm of the city.
An additional highlight is the inclusion of the original exhibition announcement postcard from the 2001 “James Rizzi Exhibition” held at Seibu Tsukuba in Japan, providing excellent provenance and supporting the authenticity and period of the signature.
