Dial and Hands
The dial is a striking silver sunburst that radiates beautifully under light, presenting in stunning vintage condition. The typography is executed in a crisp, elegant serif font, with the applied Longines winged hourglass logo positioned proudly below the twelve o'clock marker. The dial features applied gold-tone baton indices with black central channels, providing excellent contrast and legibility. Flanking the base of these indices are small tritium lume plots, denoted by the "T SWISS MADE T" signature at the bottom, which have aged to a deep, even dark tone. A framed date aperture sits cleanly at the three o'clock position. The dial surface is remarkably clean, showing only the faintest signs of microscopic aging near the central pinion upon close loupe inspection, free from distracting spots, moisture damage, or heavy patina. The gold-tone baton hands feature matching black central stripes. The luminous material within the hands has naturally darkened over the decades, perfectly matching the aesthetic of the dial plots, while the thin sweeping seconds hand remains bright and well-preserved.
Case and Crystal
The 33 mm cushion-shaped case features a sweeping, tonneau-style profile that sits with substantial presence on the wrist despite its classic dimensions. The gold-tone upper case displays honest, age-consistent wear, with fine surface scratches and micro-abrasions visible along the polished bezel and lug facets. The transition between the case flanks and the upper surfaces retains its original geometry, avoiding the softened look of over-polishing. The watch is fitted with a domed acrylic crystal that remains clear and highly legible, showing no deep gouges or distracting marks. The reverse of the watch features a robust, polygon-edged stainless steel screw-down caseback, clearly engraved with the exterior numbers 18 099314 and bearing crisp interior factory stamping.
Movement
Powering this timepiece is the impressive Longines Caliber L890.1, a beautifully engineered 25-jewel automatic movement. Visual inspection of the caliber reveals clean surfaces, bright base plates, and crisp factory engravings across the rotor, alongside the clearly visible serial number 55259414. The movement architecture highlights Longines' dedication to robust, high-frequency timekeeping during this era. Exhibiting remarkable accuracy and consistency, performing brilliantly for a vintage timepiece. The timegrapher indicates a deviation of -3 to -5 seconds per day with strong amplitude. The movement have been recently serviced and performs strongly.
Strap
The watch is presented on a striking black leather strap, distinguished by intricate white, yellow, and brown contrast stitching along the edges. The strap is supple and complements the warm tones of the case and dial, securing to the wrist with a standard buckle.
Condition
This Longines survives in excellent vintage condition. The dial is the clear standout, remaining exceptionally clean and vibrant with highly attractive, naturally aged luminous elements. The case exhibits normal, honest signs of wear in the form of light surface scratches consistent with careful use over the decades, free from structural damage or heavy impacts. The movement is exceptionally clean and performs with outstanding precision.
Dimensions
The case measures 33 mm in width, excluding the crown.
Remarks

The combination of the reliable L890.1 caliber, the sharp sunburst dial, and the elegant cushion case makes this a versatile addition to any vintage collection. History
Longines holds one of the most respected pedigrees in Swiss watchmaking, renowned for their exceptional chronographs and high-grade time-only calibers. During the 1970s, the brand continued to innovate with their in-house mechanical movements, producing sophisticated automatic calibers like the L890 series before the industry fully pivoted toward quartz technology. Watches from this specific period represent the twilight of Longines' fully independent mechanical development, offering collectors a tangible piece of horological history housed within the bold, experimental case designs that defined the decade.
