This is a woodblock print by Keiichi Takasawa from the series "Onnae4dai". It depicts a woman in traditional Japanese attire. The print features white skin rendering based on traditional ukiyo-e techniques with subtle three-dimensional quality and shading. The pattern of the kimono worn by the woman is printed in detail.
Artist Profile:
Keiichi Takasawa (1914–1984) was a Western-style painter and bijinga (beautiful women) painter born in Gunma Prefecture. After leaving the Nihon University College of Art, he went to Shanghai as a military painter, where he studied under Tsuguharu Fujita (Leonard Fujita). He established his own style of traditional Japanese attire bijinga while inheriting the essence of Fujita's milky skin technique. After World War II, he was known for creating the cover illustrations for the magazine "Fujin Koron" for many years. He received an award at the "Le Salon" exhibition in France.
