Italian Solid Silver Flatware Set for 12 – Clementi Bologna for Calderoni

800 Silver – Approximately 5.93 kg of Pure Silver – Exceptional Italian Craftsmanship

This magnificent San Marco pattern flatware set, crafted by the renowned Clementi silversmith workshop of Bologna for Calderoni Jewellery, is a superb example of 20th-century Italian silver artistry. Inspired by the elegance of Venetian silverware from the 18th and 19th centuries, the design combines timeless refinement with outstanding craftsmanship.

Every piece was individually handcrafted in solid 800 silver, with the knives featuring stainless-steel blades and solid silver handles. The graceful proportions, balanced weight, and rich detailing make this service both a functional work of art and a remarkable collector’s piece.

Composition

According to the attached photograph, the set comprises approximately:

* 12 dinner knives (stainless steel blades, silver handles)
* 11 fruit or dessert knives
* 12 dinner forks
* 12 dessert or fruit forks
* 10 table spoons
* 10 serving spoons
* 12 teaspoons
* 11 coffee spoons
* 10 pastry forks
* 9 small spoons
* 2 sugar tongs

(Some groups contain 10 or 11 pieces rather than 12, indicating minor losses over time.)

Weight

* Total gross weight: approximately 6 kg
* Estimated fine silver content: approximately 5,930 g
* The 23 knife handles alone weigh about 2 kg, containing an estimated 600 g of silver, with individual handles ranging from approximately 20 g to 30 g of silver.

Condition and Provenance

Preserved in excellent condition, apparently unused, showing only light natural oxidation consistent with age. Originating from a private collection, this service retains its original elegance and authenticity.

A Rare Example of Italian Silver Art

Far more than a table service, this Clementi Bologna for Calderoni set represents a refined expression of Italian silversmithing. With nearly six kilograms of silver content and its distinguished San Marco pattern, it offers a unique opportunity for collectors and connoisseurs seeking exceptional quality, historical significance, and timeless elegance.

Weight Details: The flatware pieces alone (excluding knife handles) contain approximately 5.92 kg of silver. Including the silver knife handles, the total silver content rises to approximately 6.5 kg. The complete set, including stainless-steel blades and all components, has an overall gross weight of approximately 8 kg. These substantial weights reflect the exceptional quality and generous use of precious metal characteristic of fine Italian silversmithing.
