A remarkably rare and museum-quality Grand Tour hinged bangle bracelet, created in Rome during the mid-19th century, representing one of the finest expressions of the Roman micro mosaic tradition developed for wealthy travelers undertaking the Grand Tour of Europe.
The bracelet is crafted in silver with traces of original gilding, richly decorated with exquisitely hand-set micro mosaic glass tesserae. At the center, two elegant birds—a swan and a dove—are depicted among flowering branches on a deep red background, framed by elaborate floral panels featuring finely executed roses and polychrome blossoms. The extraordinary precision of the microscopic glass tesserae demonstrates the exceptional skill of Roman mosaic workshops active during the period.
