Descrizione del venditore

A splendid and charming antique table cabinet (historically known as a monetriere or miniature cabinet), an extraordinary example of high-period cabinetry dating to the late 17th or early 18th century, in the full Baroque style. The exterior is made entirely of ebonized wood, characterized by a magnificent and dense natural craquelure patina on the finishing film (particularly evident and fascinating on the sides), attesting to its absolute authenticity and perfect historical aging. The piece is embellished with elaborate embossed, perforated, and engraved brass (or bronze) applications: star-shaped corner studs, elegant decorative lock escutcheons, and imposing banded front hinges. Two sturdy contemporary handles are attached to the sides, historically designed to facilitate transporting the piece over chests of drawers or stately tables. Opening the two central doors reveals an exquisitely ornate "theater" interior layout: a series of eight perimeter drawers framing a central door (elevation). Each drawer and the interior of the doors are finely decorated with a refined tortoiseshell technique, characterized by warm, deep hues of fiery red and black, framed by gilded, molded frames that create a visual contrast with exceptional theatrical impact. The upper part (the capital) features an additional upward-tilting opening, the interior of which retains a fine vintage marbled paper covering, a highly skilled artisanal technique historically used only for highly valuable furnishings or volumes. The locks are keyed and work. A highly collectible piece, intact and of great charm, ready to be placed in prestigious interiors or period studies.
