Item Description
This is a vintage Seiko 5 Actus automatic wristwatch, reference 6106-7420, powered by Seiko's dependable in-house caliber 6106 movement with 23 jewels. The case-back serial number 096127 places production in September 1970 at Seiko's Suwa manufacturing division in Japan.
Launched in the late 1960s, the Actus line was designed as a bolder, more design-forward alternative to Seiko's standard "5" range, and this example shows off its distinctive cushion-shaped stainless steel case paired with a silver sunburst dial. The dial carries a day-date window at 3 o'clock (currently reading "MON 26"), and the "SS" marking refers to the Second Setting hacking function, which stops the seconds hand when the crown is pulled out for accurate time setting. Winding is entirely automatic via Seiko's self-winding rotor system.
The watch is currently fitted with a later, non-original stainless steel bracelet made by Citizen rather than the factory Seiko band. The movement continues to run as an automatic winder, though it has not been serviced or overhauled, so a service is recommended before regular wear.
A distinctive piece of early-1970s Japanese watchmaking for any Seiko or vintage watch collector.

Size
Width: 38.8 mm (case diameter)
(Supplementary: bracelet length approx. 17 cm)

Weight
90.7 g / 0.0907 kg

Condition
Overall surface wear and scratches are present across the case, with noticeable scratching on the crystal; the watch runs as an automatic winder but has not been serviced or overhauled. The bracelet is a later, non-original Citizen-made stainless steel replacement rather than the factory Seiko band.

Artist Profile
Seiko is a Japanese watchmaker founded in Tokyo in 1881, celebrated for producing the world's first quartz wristwatch in 1969 and for over a century of in-house movement development across its Suwa and Daini manufacturing divisions.
The Seiko 5 series, introduced in 1963, became one of Japan's most successful and widely exported automatic watch lines, prized for its reliability and affordability. The Actus sub-line, launched in the late 1960s, brought bolder, more sculptural case designs to the Seiko 5 family while retaining its dependable automatic movements — this cushion-cased 1970 example is a good representative of that design shift.
