With Reflection, Sonny Insinna explores a more intimate dimension of his artistic research, where movement gives way to contemplation and strength finds expression in silence.
A majestic white horse lowers itself toward the water, observing its own reflection. This is not a gesture of submission, but of awareness. Suspended between earth and water, reality and reflection, the animal seems to pause before continuing its journey, transforming an ordinary moment into a universal meditation on identity, resilience, and inner balance.
The horse has long symbolized freedom, nobility, and spiritual strength. Here, these qualities are expressed through stillness rather than motion. The calm surface of the water becomes a mirror of the soul, inviting the viewer to reflect on the importance of self-knowledge before embarking on any new path.
Executed in oil, ink, and charcoal on canvas, the work combines refined anatomical realism with expressive contemporary mark-making. Transparent layers of color, fluid ink washes, and energetic charcoal lines dissolve the boundaries between the tangible and the emotional, creating a timeless atmosphere where silence becomes the true protagonist.

Reflection is an original work by Sonny Insinna, created as part of his ongoing exploration of the symbolic relationship between animals and the human condition. Through masterful figurative painting and expressive contemporary techniques, the artist transforms a quiet encounter between a horse and its reflection into a timeless meditation on identity, freedom, and inner strength.
As with all of Insinna's original works, this painting is unique and conceived as a collectible piece, combining technical excellence with a strong emotional and symbolic narrative for discerning collectors of contemporary figurative art.

Attivo dal 1998, Sonny Insinna si forma al Liceo Artistico Almeyda e si laurea in Pittura (I° e II° livello) presso l’Accademia di Belle Arti di Palermo. Le sue opere sono presenti in collezioni pubbliche e musei, tra cui: Museo Civico G. Sciortino (Monreale), Seminario Vescovile di Trapani, Museo d’Arte Contemporanea Stauros (Teramo), Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art (Pennsylvania, USA).
Ha esposto in numerosi contesti istituzionali in Italia e all’estero: Palazzo Ziino (Palermo), Valentina’s Art Gallery (Charleston, USA), Torre dei Ventimiglia (Montelepre), Galleria A Sud ArteContemporanea (Realmonte), Sacro Convento di Assisi e Biennale d’Arte Sacra (USA).
Nel 2011 fonda la Libera Scuola delle Arti Visive “Mialò Art”. Nel 2024 pubblica il manuale Colori in Equilibrio.
Da anni concentra la sua ricerca sui linguaggi dell’arte contemporanea, con particolare attenzione alla figurazione e alla dimensione simbolica.
