Nicknamed the “Speedy” by collectors for its racing-inspired dial layout, the Citizen 67-9038 is one of the finest Japanese automatic chronographs of the 1970s. Powered by the celebrated in-house Calibre 8110A, it features a true flyback chronograph, allowing the timing hand to instantly reset and restart with a single push—a sophisticated complication rarely found outside high-end Swiss chronographs of the period. The tonneau case, contrasting panda-style sub-registers, bright orange chronograph seconds hand, and integrated bracelet perfectly capture the bold motorsport aesthetic that defined the era. Today, the 8110-powered chronographs are regarded as some of Citizen’s most collectible vintage creations.
