Descrizione del venditore
Rare Miner’s Craftsmanship: Large Carved Graphite Stein with Wooden Handle & Mining Symbols – 24 cm / 1.2 kg
Up for auction is a remarkable hand-carved decorative tankard crafted from solid graphite with a carved wooden handle. While traditional mining artifacts are often crafted from anthracite coal, this body is made of pure graphite – evidenced by its distinct silvery-black luster and soft material properties.
Notably, the handle is made of carved wood shaped like a miner's mallet handle, securely fitted to the graphite body.
Features & Design:
Central Emblem: Prominently features the classic mining motif "Crossed Hammer and Pick" (Schlägel und Eisen) carved in relief on a textured medallion.
Secondary Motif: Opposite side showcases a deeply carved floral emblem (Edelweiss / Flower).
Wooden Handle: Crafted from wood in the shape of a miner's mallet handle, offering a beautiful material contrast.
Craftsmanship: Detailed geometric chip-carvings and textured bands wrapping around the graphite body.
Dimensions & Weight:
Height: approx. 24 cm
Weight: approx. 1,200 g (1.2 kg)
Condition:
In good original condition. There is a small chip at the upper rim (clearly visible in the detailed close-up photos), which is typical for soft graphite objects of this age. No cracks or restorations to the body or handle.
An exceptional piece for collectors of mining memorabilia, folk art, and unique mineral carvings.
Will be packaged with extreme care and shipped tracked/insured.
