The Ippologichesky Atlas is a large full-color "hippological atlas" prepared for use by the cadets at the Nicholas Cavalry School in Russia. The atlas addresses anatomy, points, teeth, color, conformation and proportions, stabling, the foot and shoeing, the mechanics of movement, transport, breeds and their uses, breeding, and cross-country jumping.

This album about horses is one of the most significant pre-revolutionary artistic encyclopedic works describing their structure and maintenance. This extremely rare book will undoubtedly make a valuable gift for both a horse lover and a horse professional.
The author's biography is remarkable. Alexander Alexandrovich von Bilderling (1846-1912) was a talented and versatile man who dedicated his entire life to the Russian army. A cavalry general and one of the commanders during the Russo-Japanese War, he was also remembered by his contemporaries and descendants as an outstanding watercolor artist, historian, and public figure. Bilderling was the organizer of the first M. Yu. Lermontov Museum in Russia and participated in the creation of monuments to Przhevalsky, Nakhimov, Kornilov, the defenders of Poltava, and others. A.A. Bilderling's military and public activities included: Bilderling was awarded a large number of orders and the highest awards (over twenty) – both Russian and international. Having served in the cavalry his entire life, he had a deep knowledge and love of horses, making the "Hippological Atlas" a remarkable encyclopedic work in which the author fully utilized both his experience and his artistic talents.
This atlas will be of interest to horse lovers and owners, and will help them better understand the living conditions and working capabilities of horses of different breeds.
