GOLDEN BOY (2000)
"THE FIRST MARK" (2026)
Unique Original Artwork – 1/1
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Golden Boy has established himself as one of the most distinctive figures of the emerging European Pop & Street Art scene.
Through an instantly recognizable universe where graffiti culture, emotion, childhood and universal symbols come together, the artist creates powerful, vibrant and resolutely contemporary works. His visual language combines the raw energy of urban art with childhood innocence, positive imagery and a deeply personal vision of creativity and freedom.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
"THE FIRST MARK"
With "The First Mark", Golden Boy celebrates the very beginning of artistic expression — that first spontaneous gesture through which a child discovers the power of leaving a mark on the world.
At the centre of the composition, two young children stand within a spectacular urban landscape. Paintbrush in hand, a young boy reaches towards the wall and paints a black heart, while a little girl follows closely behind him carrying paint.
The scene captures a simple yet symbolic moment: the birth of the creative gesture.
The title "The First Mark" refers to that instinctive need to draw, paint and express oneself that appears during childhood. Before technique, rules or artistic ambition, there is simply the desire to create — to make a mark and transform the space around us.
Golden Boy connects this childhood impulse directly to the origins of graffiti culture. The child's first brushstroke and the street artist's first tag share the same fundamental idea: leaving a trace of one's presence.
The heart painted by the young boy adds an emotional dimension to this creative act. His first mark is not a name or a signature, but a universal symbol of affection, transforming the gesture into a message of innocence and positivity.
Around the children, the city becomes an enormous open-air canvas. Architectural silhouettes, bridges, buildings and street elements emerge beneath layers of intense colour, creating an imaginary urban environment suspended somewhere between reality and childhood fantasy.
Electric blue, brilliant yellow, vivid orange, fuchsia and red dominate the composition, while splashes, drips and spontaneous strokes bring movement and raw energy to the surface.
Against this colourful environment, the children are rendered in striking black and white. Their graphic precision contrasts with the expressive freedom of the background, reinforcing their presence at the heart of the composition.
Paint cans and creative tools scattered around them suggest a world in which the city itself becomes a playground for imagination.
With "The First Mark", Golden Boy creates a poetic metaphor for the origins of creativity: the moment when an innocent gesture becomes expression, when expression becomes identity, and when a simple mark becomes the beginning of an artistic journey.
A vibrant and optimistic artwork combining Pop Art, Street Art, childhood and the universal desire to create.
