Descrizione del venditore

An ornately decorated Persian metal charger, measuring approximately 30 cm in diameter, featuring a finely worked figurative scene surrounded by elaborate floral and foliate motifs.

The piece appears to be made of engraved and repoussé metal, combining silver-coloured surfaces with contrasting gilt details and bands. The central composition depicts figures in traditional Persian dress within a richly decorated garden landscape, executed with extensive hand-worked detailing and characteristic Persian decorative motifs.

The decoration is produced using a combination of repoussé, chasing and engraving, creating considerable depth and definition throughout the figurative scene and surrounding ornamental borders.

Of particular interest is a signature or inscription in Persian located near the lower part of the central scene. Preliminary research suggests that the inscription may read “Alamdari” (علمداری). This raises the possibility that the piece could be associated with or attributed to the work of the Isfahan master Mahdi (Mehdi) Alamdari, although further specialist examination of the inscription, workmanship and metal would be required to confirm such an attribution.

Stylistically, the charger appears consistent with Persian/Iranian metalwork, incorporating traditional figurative imagery, densely worked floral ornamentation and contrasting silver-coloured and gilt surfaces.
