Jack Gage, born in Boston in 1946, is an American artist whose distinctive work is characterised by a highly personal figurative approach based on geometric patterns, grids and flowing curved lines.

In this work, Gage depicts a female figure in a pose inspired by yoga and meditation, with her hands joined in front of her chest. The entire figure is constructed through a striking arrangement of red, white and black geometric diamonds extending across the face, body and surrounding elements.

The intense colours contrast strongly with the neutral areas, creating a highly graphic and immediately recognisable composition. The geometric forms give the figure an almost sculptural appearance, while the curves and diagonal lines introduce movement and depth.
