Massive Antique Wooden Ship’s Block with Rope – British Maritime Piece, Late 19th Century (Estimated)

Impressive and exceptionally large antique wooden ship’s block originating from the United Kingdom, featuring a substantial solid wooden sheave and accompanied by its rope.

Based on its construction, materials and overall appearance, the block is believed to date from the late 19th century, although its exact age has not been documented.

This is not a modern decorative reproduction, but a heavy, functional piece of traditional maritime equipment originally made for practical use aboard or around sailing vessels. Over many decades, the wood, rope and metal fittings have developed an attractive natural patina, with visible traces of age and use that give the piece considerable character.
