Una sottile pedang somalaSumatran? Wait. I must translate properly.
A fine Sumatran ‘Pedang’ which is the literal translation for ‘sword’. Often found all over Sumatra with their typical carved hilts depicting floral motifs. The Sumatran swords are known for their fine detail in silver decoration, as is seen here on our example. As I wasn't able to test the silver I would like to state / qualify the material as "low grade silver" but this is real silver!
One of the finer examples of a sumatran pedang with typical shape, silver guard and decorated with low grade silver. The pommel is in relief with beautiful silver part (also on top of hilt!) with floral motifs and foliage. The blade has a nice pamor but i can not determine which kind...
A true beautiful example of a Sumatran pedang with no restorations / repairs and fully original which is slightly worn but an interesting blade. The blade has traces of wear and surface rust and the hilt and shaft decorations are of high quality with finely decorated fittings. I estimate the blade to date from the 19th century.
