L’Ange du retour

L’Ange du retour is a contemporary work built around colour, architecture and movement. A solitary figure crosses a sunlit street by bicycle, passing beneath an ornate doorway against an expansive red wall.

The intense red of the architecture, the warm ochre pavement and the pale figure create a quiet contrast between stillness and movement. The flowing fabric and elongated shadows introduce a sense of passage, while the large expanse of the wall leaves space for the viewer to imagine what lies beyond the scene.

Drawing from Moroccan architectural forms and the visual language of cinema, the work combines figurative storytelling with a painterly treatment of light, colour and texture.

Mehdi Aissaoui Ben (M.A.B.) is a Moroccan actor and multidisciplinary artist whose creative work extends beyond performance into visual storytelling. His artistic practice explores atmosphere, movement, memory and human presence, drawing on the language of cinema and photography alongside Moroccan cultural and architectural references.

His visual works focus on carefully composed moments, using colour, light and space to create an emotional narrative while leaving room for the viewer's own interpretation. His background in performance informs an approach to visual composition in which gesture, atmosphere and the relationship between figure and environment play an important role.
