Descrizione del venditore

Still in life - oil on Canvas 100x80H cm , 135x100H cm ( inc frame ) frame thickness 7 cm. 19th to early 20th-century oil on canvas painting by French Impressionist Georges Louis Mouton is a masterful exploration of light and botanical abundance. Titled Still Life of Chrysanthemums, the composition breaks from the rigidity of traditional indoor arrangements. Instead, it presents a sprawling, diagonal cascade of cut flowers that appears to overflow directly onto the ground of a shaded courtyard or wooded garden terrace. The bouquet is alive with textured brushstrokes and a vibrant autumnal palette. Star-like white blossoms anchor the center, surrounded by a dense cluster of dahlias and chrysanthemums in shades of deep magenta, soft blush, golden yellow, and fiery orange. Mouton’s loose, expressive technique captures the ephemeral softness of the petals, while the heavily shadowed, cool-toned background elevates the luminous colors of the flora. Signed in the lower-left corner, the artwork is beautifully preserved within its original, period-correct gilded stucco frame. The frame boasts ornate, deeply molded scrolling relief patterns that emphasize the piece's historical provenance. It stands as an elegant example of European Belle Époque floral painting, capturing both natural beauty and classic antique charm. Frame Is a gift and has signs of agings as shown on the photos.
