A very RARE and beautiful and interesting book..."SYRIA AND THE HOLY LAND, their scenery and their people, Incidents of Travel etc from the best and most recent authorities by Walter Keating Kelly, with illustrations. Published in 1844 by Chapman and Hall.
A combination of the author's first-person observations with copious extracts from other travellers. He also discusses his observations of Lebanon, and what is now Jordan and southern Turkey.
Beautiful quarter bound in brown leather on marbled hardboards, with five raised bands on the spine, gilt lettering and gilt motif in each panel. Plain endpapers. The book is beautifully bound and is in very good condition with both boards firmly attached and no pages loose or missing.
Very well preserved copy!
