The drive to embark on new—dare I say "experimental"—paths of interconnection between worlds that appear distinct and even antagonistic lies at the heart of the presentation of the work *Grande Frammento* (Great Fragment) to the public and the educational community of Varese. Created by Maestro Vittore Frattini at the Mazzucchelli facility in Castiglione Olona, the piece embodies a complex artistic and expressive language; through its boldness and its original attempt to forge a union between art and industry, it invites understanding and interpretation from individuals who recognize—in Frattini’s "artistic industriousness"—defining characteristics of their own daily work lives and "productive" culture.
The simultaneous presentation of *Grande Frammento* in Varese and an exhibition of studies on the *Frammenti* series (dating back to 1982) at Milan’s Teatro Verdi—complemented by a magnificent monograph—make this artistic event a rare highlight in Varese’s cultural calendar.
One of the most significant Italian painters of his generation offers us an opportunity for artistic reflection that is valuable for its novelty; on behalf of the Varese community, I extend my sincere thanks.
