Omega Seamaster Automatic “Tapestry Dial” – Cal. 1020 – Ref. 166.0268

The Omega Seamaster Ref. 166.0268 is one of the more distinctive integrated-bracelet Seamaster designs from the later mechanical era of the collection. Its broad cushion-shaped case, seamless bracelet integration and large dial opening give it the unmistakable luxury-sports character associated with the 1970s and early 1980s. Documented examples of Ref. 166.0268 measure 35 mm and are powered by Omega’s automatic Calibre 1020.

A particularly attractive feature of this reference is its vertically lined or “Tapestry” dial, a dial treatment documented on surviving Ref. 166.0268 examples. The textured surface adds considerable depth under changing light, while the applied baton indexes and large day-date aperture retain the practical, highly recognizable appearance of Omega’s Cal. 1020 Seamasters. The Cal. 1020 is a 17-jewel automatic movement operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour and provides both day and date indications.

Condition

Presented in very good vintage condition. The angular case and integrated bracelet preserve the strong architectural appearance that makes this generation of Seamaster particularly recognizable.

There is seenable defects on gold plating but overall the condition of the watch is very well

The champagne tapestry dial is the visual highlight of the watch, with its fine vertical pattern changing subtly according to the light. Dark contrasting inserts within the applied indexes complement the warm gold-tone case and bracelet, while the oversized day-date display gives the watch its characteristic period appearance.
