Rare Antique Cast Iron Pressure Cooker (10.5L) - De Dietrich / L. Brindlinger Augsburg - c. 1895-1910 - Complete with Clamping Yoke & Counterweight Valve

Up for auction is a magnificent, museum-quality piece of culinary history: a massive antique cast iron pressure cooker (early domestic autoclave / Dampftopf) dating from the late 19th to early 20th century (circa 1890–1910).

This highly collectible item was manufactured by the world-renowned iron foundry De Dietrich in Niederbronn (Alsace) and distributed through the prominent Bavarian ironware merchant L. Brindlinger in Augsburg.

Key Features & Condition Report:
- Exceptionally Complete Set: Unlike most surviving specimens from this era, this autoclave retains all of its original, easily lost moving parts. It comes complete with its heavy cast-iron clamping yoke (crossbar) featuring a T-screw handle, the original solid brass pressure-relief tap, and the mechanical counterweight safety valve assembly with its sliding cylindrical weight.
- Historical Maker Marks: The lid is clearly stamped with the curved makers' mark "DE DIETRICH NIEDERBRONN", "BREVETÉ" (Patented), and the merchant's stamp "L. BRINDLINGER AUGSBURG".
- Rare Large Capacity: Features a generous volume of 10.5 Liters, proudly stamped on the front of the body as "10 ½". Most surviving pots are smaller (3L–7L); these large-capacity estate variants are significantly scarcer.
- Interior Enameling: The interior is lined with its original cream-colored protective enamel—a pioneering safety feature patented by De Dietrich to prevent food from reacting with the cast iron. In keeping with its 110+ year age, there is authentic enamel loss on the interior bottom due to historical heat exposure and usage. The cast iron itself is structurally sound, with no cracks or repairs.
- Preservation State: The exterior boasts a beautiful, untouched dark historic patina. It has been kept in its genuine estate-found condition without aggressive mechanical grinding to fully preserve its antique value.
