===================

Introduced in 2001, the CanoScan FS4000US represents Canon’s flagship and singular dedicated desktop film scanner, engineered to challenge the industry-standard Nikon Coolscan and Minolta DiMAGE platforms. Built around a high-precision 3-line linear CCD array and custom-designed Canon optics, the unit delivers a true optical resolution of 4,000 dpi with 42-bit color depth (14 bits per channel) alongside Canon’s proprietary FARE (Film Automatic Retouching and Enhancement) infrared channel for dust and scratch correction. While digital camera bodies utilize legacy glass via physical lens rings, heritage film digitizers integrate into modern high-resolution digital workflows through universal scanning suites such as VueScan or SilverFast across modern Windows and macOS systems. Dual connectivity allows operation via legacy 50-pin SCSI-2 or standard USB 1.1.

Still very useful on newer system with the use of Vuescan software(not included)
