Yoshi Takahashi (1943–1998) - Mutter mit Tochter

Yoshi Takahashi (Tokyo 1943 – Bad Reichenhall 1998).

"Mutter mit Tochter" [Mother with Daughter], 1996.

Original color etching.
Paper: Zerkall handmade heavyweight paper. 48 x 56 cm.

Graphik International, 1996.
Edition of 95 copies, numbered and signed by hand.

Yoshi Takahashi’s artistic style is distinguished by a poetic fusion of traditional Japanese minimalism and calligraphy with the abstract movements of the European avant-garde (particularly Abstract Expressionism and Lyrical Surrealism). His work consistently evokes the visual universe of Western masters such as Paul Klee and Joan Miró. It employs the layering of printing plates to create a striking and rich range of secondary tones, depths, and gradations of light. Magnificent.
