Descrizione del venditore
Elegant Japanese chawan tea bowl made during the Heisei period, featuring a rustic and tactile aesthetic typical of contemporary ceramics used for the tea ceremony (chanoyu). The bowl has a low and wide form with a slightly irregular profile, the result of artisanal craftsmanship that reflects the wabi-sabi aesthetic appreciated in the tea tradition.
The exterior surface is covered with a light grey speckled glaze, with small iron inclusions and a slightly granular texture that enhances the natural character of the clay. The interior is glazed in a darker glossy green-grey tone, ideal for preparing matcha and for highlighting the vibrant color of the tea.
The slightly undulating rim and irregular thickness give the chawan an organic and authentic appearance. The base features a well-defined kodai (foot), with a partially unglazed area revealing the clay and contrasting with the dark brown to black glaze applied around the lower section.
A refined and functional object, perfect both for use in the tea ceremony and as a collectible piece of contemporary Japanese ceramics.
Dimensions:
Height: 6.5 cm
Diameter: 11 cm
Condition:
Very good overall condition, with normal characteristics and irregularities resulting from handmade production and firing. No visible cracks or restorations.
