Fritz Hansen Ant Chair. This auction is just for one unit.
Conceinved by Danish master Arne Jacobsen in 1952, in an early stage of his tests with press-molded plywood. Its iconic shape, the thin 'ant waist', is the consequence of the material limitations of the time to bend the plywood in two axis, making a design virtue out of necessity.
This is the 4-legged version in walnut veneer. This version currently retails over 600€ a piece depending on the country.
The chairs are brand new, distributor's stock. They have never been used and still keep their factory tags. Condition is immaculate.
Other lot of an Ant chair in matching shell is for sale simultaneously. Combined shipment with other lots in this auction is offered for no extra cost.
