The Pinot Noir Alte Reben is essentially a single-vineyard cuvée, as the grapes come almost exclusively from the Huber winery's Grosses Gewächs vineyards. Julian Huber, according to his own statement, has selected the barrels for his single-vineyard wine more rigorously than ever before, resulting in more barrels from the best plots ending up in the Pinot Noir Alte Reben. The nose is (still) characterized by flint and reduction, but behind it, there is beautiful red fruit, some cherry and strawberry, with a hint of spice. A cool minerality is added. It never seems too powerful, yet you can still detect depth and inner density. On the palate, the juiciness radiates immense fascination, dancing and constantly moving; the tannins are delicate and gripping, and the balance is magnificent.
