Ichiro Akuta is the grand-son of the famous Hanyu distllery founder. In 2007, he built the new Chichibu distillery 100km northwest of Tokyo, located near the old distillery of Hanyu. The climate with humid summers and cold winters provides excellent maturing conditions and exceptional whiskies.
