"Residue & Intervals"
" A long, luminous band of greens and blues punctuated by warm residue—an elegant panoramic work that stretches space and holds it together."
Description:
"Residue & Intervals" unfolds as a horizontal panorama of vertical veils—thin drips and layered washes that create rhythm without agitation. Cool greens and aquas rise through the field, while warmer bands of ochre and muted red appear as “residue,” like sediment left behind after movement. The title is literal in the painting’s structure: intervals of light and air between vertical marks, and residue where pigment accumulates into denser passages. From a distance, it reads as expansive and architectural; up close, the surface reveals stratification, abrasion, and delicate interruptions that keep the work alive.
Conditions of Light (Best Viewing):
->Best: bright indirect daylight or warm-neutral artificial light (approx. 2700K–3500K).
->Works especially well when: light washes the wall evenly, allowing the panoramic rhythm to read cleanly across the full length.
->Avoid: harsh direct sun for extended periods (UV + glare). If the wall receives direct sunlight, consider UV-filter window film or place the work on a more protected wall.
Materiality & Surface:
->Medium: Acrylic & mixed media on canvas (layered veils, gesso, sand, modeling paste, controlled drips, and denser sediment-like passages).
->Surface character: visibly stratified; translucent layers sit over grounded, textured accumulations—especially in the lower band.
->Perception: the cool palette and warm residues can shift subtly with ambient light temperature and viewing angle—typical of depth-based, layered painting.
Dimensions & Format:
->Size: 70 cm × 165 cm
->Orientation: Horizontal (panoramic)
->Extra margin for stretching: approx. 3–5 cm
->Edition: Single original work
->Interior effect: the panoramic format visually extends the wall, creating a stabilizing “horizon” that feels expansive and premium.
Photography & Color Accuracy:
->The photographs show the work in interior contexts. Because the surface is layered and the palette combines cool greens/aquas with warm residues (ochre and muted reds), colors may shift slightly depending on ambient light temperature and viewing angle. This is characteristic of works with visible stratification and depth.
Residential Placement Recommendations:
->A main living room feature wall above a long console or low cabinetry
->Dining rooms where a panoramic work can widen the space visually
->Hallways / transitional spaces (wide corridors, gallery-like passages)
->Hospitality lounges and executive environments where the work provides structure without dominating the room
Recommended Lighting:
->Wall-wash lighting is ideal for panoramas (clean, even illumination across 165 cm).
->Alternatively, use three track heads with warm-neutral LEDs (2700K–3500K), spaced evenly and angled slightly off-axis to reduce glare.
->Avoid a single strong spotlight; it will break the “interval” rhythm and create hot reflections on lighter passages.
Framing / Mounting Recommendations (Suggested):
->To match the refined framing language shown in your interior mockups:
->Thin wood frame in natural oak or dark walnut, with a clean architectural profile.
->Keep the presentation minimal and modern—no ornate moulding.
->A float frame with a narrow shadow gap can work exceptionally well for this panoramic piece, emphasizing its linear, architectural presence.
->If glazing is used (optional): specify UV-protective acrylic plus spacers so the canvas never touches glazing. Many collectors prefer canvas works unglazed to preserve surface presence.
