Keep selling with confidence:

DAC7 updates

What you need to know to continue selling worry-free on Catawiki

What is DAC7?
DAC7 is a new European regulation obliging all marketplaces, including Catawiki, to provide additional seller information to tax authorities.

Sharing your information doesn't change anything about your tax obligations. Sellers selling personal items are still exempt from being taxed.

Who needs to provide additional information?

Sellers based in the EU or UK who:
- sold 30 or more objects OR
- earned over €2,000 in revenue
on Catawiki in a calendar year.

If you are a private seller, you won't be paying taxes by adding additional information. Only professional sellers need to continue paying taxes as they have been.

What is a professional seller?
A Professional Seller sells objects in connection with their trade, business, craft, or any professional activity.
What do I need to do?
If you meet the DAC7 criteria, we'll notify you via email or when you log into your account. All you'll have to do is follow the prompts to add the necessary information.

Please add the information within 60 days of us asking for it. If you don’t hear from us, you don’t need to do anything!
What information is needed?
There's a good chance that we already have most of the necessary information from the time you created your account or became verified as a seller. You can visit our help centre for detailed information on what needs to be provided. If you are missing any information we'll notify you.

These new rules apply to all digital platforms, including Catawiki, that facilitate various transactions such as the sale of goods (like special objects), provision of personal services (such as passenger transportation), and rental of immovable property (like hotels and apartments).

No. Reporting does not introduce new tax obligations. Meeting the DAC7 criteria and sharing information doesn't automatically imply an obligation to pay taxes on your sales.
Generally, selling personal possessions doesn't require you to pay income tax. However, once you start operating as a business on platforms like Catawiki, you may need to pay taxes. Tax rules vary by EU country, so if you're unsure it's advisable to seek professional tax advice for clarity.
If you meet the DAC7 criteria, we'll notify you via email and within your Catawiki account. Most necessary information may already be in your account, but we'll let you know if anything is missing. Simply review and update your account as prompted. Note: if you have multiple accounts, provide the information separately for each.
DAC7 doesn't directly alter tax processing procedures, neither for Catawiki fees nor for local taxes. However, local tax authorities may utilize DAC7 data to verify tax returns. The extent of this usage varies by country. For more information, consult your local tax authorities or seek advice from a tax advisor.

We'll notify you and provide reminders to submit the required information. Failure to comply may lead to suspension of payments and potentially, suspension of selling privileges on Catawiki until the required information is provided, as mandated by law.

We’ll remind you 3 times before the 60 days are up.

If you don't add the information within the 60 days, we may temporarily freeze your payouts and potentially block your submission. We'll unblock it as soon as you add the necessary information.
At Catawiki, we're dedicated to ensuring a smooth and transparent process for our sellers. Keep an eye out for further communications from Catawiki, where we'll provide additional information and resources to help you understand DAC7 and its impact on your selling experience.

Since we’re headquartered in the Netherlands, we securely share the DAC7 info with the Dutch tax authority. They’ll pass the info on to your country’s tax authority. We’ll always let you know when we share this info and what info we’ve shared.
