Baron de Brane is a Grand Vin de Margaux created by Château Brane-Cantenac, already known for its fine wine in the 18th century. Château Brane-Cantenac was purchased in 1833 by the Baron de Brane, nicknamed the "Napoleon of the Vineyards." Its name comes from the baron's surname and the name of the place where the vineyards were located, Cantenac. Today, the estate is owned by the Lurton family, who, since 2009, have been able to produce increasingly better wines through careful modifications.
The wine is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Carménère. Vinification takes place in concrete vats, steel tanks, and wooden barrels. The wine is then aged in French oak barrels (20-30% new) for 12 months.
