Decorative Rococo Style Wall Clock – Mauthe Movement – Germany / Sweden, mid-20th century A very decorative wall clock in Rococo revival style with an ornate gilded wooden case richly carved with roses, leaves and scroll motifs. The design is inspired by classic Scandinavian Gustavian and Rococo wall clocks and makes a beautiful decorative piece for an interior. The clock is fitted with a signed German mechanical movement by Mauthe (Friedrich Mauthe, Schwenningen) Mauthe was one of the well-known German clock manufacturers of the 19th and 20th century, producing reliable mechanical movements used in many European clocks. The movement is a traditional mechanical key-wound movement with bell strike, chiming the hours on a metal bell. The mechanism is clearly stamped “MAUTHE” with serial number. The clock is fully mechanical and decorative, typical for mid-20th century European production combining a German movement with a Scandinavian style carved case. The clock presents very nicely and works as both a functional timepiece and an attractive interior decoration. Good vintage condition with normal signs of age and use. Mechanism is clean and signed. As with all vintage mechanical clocks, occasional adjustment or servicing may be required Height: approx. 46 cm (18.1 in) Width: approx. 32 cm (12.6 in) Depth: approx. 13 cm (5.1 in) A charming decorative wall clock with a reliable German movement and a very attractive Rococo-style case.
