Hand-painted maritime scene on the lid, set against a "bleu céleste" porcelain body. The scene is based on the famous 1767 painting "A Storm on a Mediterranean Coast" by the French artist Claude-Joseph Vernet.
Elaborate gilt brass (ormolu) frame with decorative rococo-style feet.
Numbered on the bottom: 1528
In good condition. Normal traces of age and use. No cracks. The closing mechanism is slightly tilted to the left.
