Officially Discontinued: The Macallan retired the Fine Oak blue-box branding back in 2018. It was briefly replaced by the "Triple Cask Matured" range before being completely phased out.
The clear spirit is filled into three distinct cask types, where it must sit untouched for a minimum of 12 years
European Oak Casks (Seasoned with Sherry): Sourced from the forests of Spain and seasoned with Oloroso sherry for 18 months. These infuse the whisky with heavy tannins, dark dried fruits, ginger, and deep wood spice.
American Oak Casks (Seasoned with Sherry): Crafted out of fresh American white oak, sent over to Spain to be seasoned with the same Oloroso sherry. These provide a lighter golden hue and soften the spirit with sweet vanilla and fresh fruit notes.
American Oak Ex-Bourbon Casks: Sourced directly from premium bourbon distilleries in the United States. These give the Fine Oak series its signature floral lift, bright citrus punch, and unmistakable coconut-vanilla sweetness.

Because this expression incorporates ex-bourbon wood alongside traditional sherry wood, it features a much lighter, fresher, and more vibrantly fruit-and-vanilla-forward profile compared to Macallan's heavily sherried releases.
Color: Rich, pale straw-gold (100% natural color derived purely from the wood, with zero caramel coloring added).
Nose (Aroma): Highly complex and fragrant. It opens with sweet vanilla and light honey, immediately followed by fresh fruit layers of crisp melon, lemon zest, and a subtle hint of orchard peaches or orange peel.
Palate (Taste): Medium-bodied and perfectly balanced on the tongue. Bright lemon citrus flavor intertwines beautifully with soft vanilla bean cream, light toasted oak, a malty sweetness, and mild baking spices like nutmeg and cinnamon.
Finish: Lingering, smooth, and clean. It wraps up with refreshing notes of ripe melon, papaya, fresh-cut oak, and a tingling touch of wood spice
