Pete Townshend - Signed numbered VIP-invite - 1993

Not many musicians are more rock ’n roll than The Windmill himself: Pete Townshend. On offer here is a handsigned and numbered invitation from 1993. More than thirty years ago Townshend released an ambitious solo-project Psychoderelict. An opera, accompanied by a movie plus multiple versions on vinyl and cd. It is an intricate story about a fading rockstar who wants to revitalise his career (thinking of anybode at that time?) Multiple characters appear: main ones are a woman DJ and the manager. The story is a satirical look at Townshends own career at that moment. It was very close to his heart, so he invited a few VIPs to a presentation Friday July 2nd 1993 at the London Mayfair Theatre where he played some tracks, showed clips, and spoke to journalists. Amongst them was me. To be honest, I was not a big fan of Psychoderelict. The story was too complicated for me and I felt that not many fans would be able to identify with a true rock star. But hey, this was Mr windmill! We talked about ten minutes. He found my views amusing, saying that it was not really meant to be identified with, but mainly a message to colleagues and the industry. He kindly delved into his memories, the Who stuff (No I did not ask about the I hope I die before I get old-line) and happily also the amazing Woodstock performance. They were conned into that, he said, and he fell for it again when Geldof asked him to join Live-Aid as a solo artist, but announced a Who revival. At the end of the talk he signed my invitation. Check the pictures, it is numbered 017 out of fifty. I put it safely away and had not seen it since. So it is in wonderful as new condition. This signature is part of rock history. For you to own. It will be preciously packed and swiftly send.
