The watch manufacturer Montres Breguet was founded in 1775 by watchmaker Abraham Louis Breguet and was based in Paris for a long time. The manufacturer remained in family ownership until 1870, when it was taken over by the then workshop manager Edward Brown. Edward Brown's family sold Breguet in 1970 to the jeweler Chaumet. In 1987, Breguet came under the ownership of the London financial company Investcorp.
