Offered for sale is an extremely rare Japanese promo pressing of Grand Funk Railroad’s “Closer To Home”, catalog number CP-8001. This early Japanese promotional issue was produced in very limited quantities and distributed exclusively to radio stations and industry insiders, making it highly sought after by collectors worldwide.

Of particular note is the presence of the original Toshiba company cover sleeve, an important and often missing component that significantly enhances both collectability and value. Complete promo copies with the original Toshiba sleeve are exceptionally scarce and rarely appear on the market.

Closer To Home is regarded as one of Grand Funk Railroad’s most important albums and includes the classic “I’m Your Captain (Closer to Home)”, marking the band’s breakthrough to international success. The Japanese promo pressing is also prized for its high manufacturing standards and excellent sound quality.
