A set of four Nepalese Buddhist ceremonial items dated to 1980–1990 and 1990–2000, titled Boeddhistisch ceremonieel, comprising a bone and shell mala, a bronze and brass prayer wheel, a ceremonial conch shell, and a Tibetan horn in silver alloy with howlite, all in good condition.
Description from the seller
A set of four Buddhist ceremonial items.
1. Mala made of bone and shell. A mala is a prayer bead necklace used to count mantras recited during meditation or while circumambulating a stupa or temple (108 times).
Material: flesh/bone and shell (conch)
Dimensions: 26 measured alone. Around: 59.5 cm. Beads approx. 0.5 x 0.8 x 0.8 cm (57 grams).
Really bitter. Has an intrusive smell.
2. Prayer wheel made of bronze and brass, with mantras and a paper roll inside also containing mantras.
Dimensions: 8.75 x 5.2 x 5.2 cm
3. Shankha, ceremonial, decorated shell (conch). The Sankha is one of the eight auspicious symbols in Buddhism, collectively known as Ashtamangala. A symbol of prestige and authority that was often used as a trumpet in battles and ceremonies.
Material: shell / conch
Dimensions: 14 x 5.5 x 4.5 cm
4. A Tibetan gunpowder horn: made for storing gunpowder, used in battles. The horn-shaped gunpowder container is richly decorated with engraved reliefs and blue howlite, a semi-precious stone often used as decoration on Nepalese and Tibetan items. The engraved decorations consist of floral patterns.
Material: silver alloy, howlite, iron
Dimensions: 21.5 x 4.8 x 4.8 cm.
All four items are in good condition.
