Description from the seller
Domaine Clos Saint Jean is located in the north-east of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation.
It harvests by hand. The grapes are strictly selected and only the best grapes are used for its own bottlings. Yields are relatively low at 25 hl/ha.
The vineyard of Clos St Jean is regarded by fellow winemakers as one of the finest in the appellation.
They are perfectly tended and maintained, producing beautiful fruit from very old vines (80 to 90 years is no exception).
All grapes are destemmed before fermentation. Maceration lasts 35 days.
Grenache does not ripen on wood, the other grape varieties are raised on new and used barrels for 12 months.
Ruby red in colour, ripened red fruit including blackberries, blackcurrants and pleasant spiciness, supple on the nose, broad on the palate, velvety soft tannins with length.
The 2018 vintage: to drink now - but can be kept until 2030.
Perfect labels, levels and capsules.
Always kept in my private cellar at an ideal temperature (12-15 °C).
