Description from the seller
Antique bronze patinated inkstand from the late 19th century, signed A. Offterdinger, with its serial number visible in the photos.
This elegant and refined object, in a neoclassical and mythological style, features a cup decorated with carved reliefs: putti (cherubs or angels) playing among floral garlands and vegetal motifs, with side handles shaped like satyr (faun) heads.
The acorn-shaped cap opens to access the hollow interior intended for ink.
The set rests on a decorated cup with garlands, scrolls, and classical motifs.
August Offterdinger, artist and designer associated with the Hanau school (Germany), was renowned for his ornamental metal creations, often showcased at international exhibitions such as the 1900 Universal Exposition in Paris.
Dimensions: approximately 21.5 cm in diameter (top), 15 cm in total height.
In good vintage condition, with a beautiful authentic patina, slight traces of oxidation, and natural marks inside (consistent with previous ink use).
No visible damage, deformation, or restoration.
A rare and charming signed piece, ideal for collectors of historic office objects, decorative bronzes, or 19th-century German art.
