Description from the seller

Wax model of Socrates' statue. The wax pit is a preparatory phase for the lost wax casting process used to create bronze statues.

Homer (in ancient Greek: Ὅμηρος?, Hómēros, pronunciation: ['home:ros]; fl. 8th century BC) was an ancient Greek poet historically identified as the author of the Iliad and the Odyssey, the two greatest epic poems of Greek literature. In antiquity, he was also attributed with other works, including the so-called Homeric Hymns, the playful poems Batracomiomachia and Margite, and several poems of the epic cycle.
