Three cobalt blue overlay crystal whisky tumblers by Val Saint Lambert, dating circa 1920–1940 in early Art Deco style, with hand‑gilded rims and a continuous gilded frieze, height 9–10 cm and rim diameter 8–9 cm, Belgium; very good condition with no cracks or chips and only minimal signs of age.
Description from the seller
Presented here is a set of three luxury whisky tumblers made of deep cobalt blue overlay glass, richly decorated with gilded classical figural scenes inspired by antiquity, attributed to the renowned Belgian glass manufacturer Val St. Lambert and dating from the interwar period.
The tumblers feature:
• an intense, uniform cobalt blue colour,
• a wide hand-gilded rim,
• a continuous decorative frieze with classical dancing figures and allegorical motifs,
• a heavy, faceted, cut base, characteristic of high-quality European crystal intended for spirits such as whisky or cognac.
The form, colour palette, decorative technique and overall craftsmanship strongly correspond to the production of Val St. Lambert, the renowned Belgian glassworks, particularly to its interwar luxury tableware and decorative glass.
