Oil on canvas – Andalusian patio in bloom
Soledad Gómez Gómez (1937)
An original work by the painter Soledad Gómez Gómez, born in Orce (Granada) in 1937 and trained at the Escuela Superior de Bellas Artes de San Carlos in Valencia, where she also specialized in restoration, is presented for auction. A highly versatile artist, she worked in various genres such as marine scenes, portraits, still lifes, and landscapes, always with a personal style characterized by Mediterranean luminosity and harmonic detail.
This oil on canvas depicts an Andalusian courtyard bursting with life and color, where traditional architecture blends with floral exuberance. The composition conveys serenity and freshness, highlighting the chromatic richness of the bougainvillea and roses climbing the arches and whitewashed walls. The firm and vibrant brushstrokes add dynamism to the scene, while the play of light and shadow provides depth and realism.
Soledad Gómez's career includes a notable national and international projection.
Exhibited at the General Directorate of Fine Arts in Madrid, at the Spanish Embassy in Geneva (Switzerland), at the Interarte Fair in Madrid, at the Circle of Fine Arts in Valencia, at the Royal Dockyards of Valencia, at the Museum of the City of Valencia, and at the Valencia City Hall.
In 2009, he participated in the Argar Gallery in Almería, as part of a group exhibition featuring more than 40 oils of landscapes, seascapes, and portraits.
Her works are part of institutional collections such as the Museum of Fine Arts of Valencia (San Pío V), the City Council of Valencia, and the Directorate-General of Fine Arts of Madrid, as well as private collections in Spain and abroad.
This piece is an exquisite example of mid-20th-century genre painting that is both luminous and decorative, rich in artistic and aesthetic value. A unique opportunity for collectors and enthusiasts of Spanish painting with a Mediterranean theme.
