Description from the seller
This exceptional antique violin, labeled “Jacobus Stainer in Absam, 1684,” reflects the style of the renowned 17th-century luthier Jacob Stainer, whose instruments were prized for their rich, warm tone and superior craftsmanship.
The instrument features a beautifully flamed maple back in two pieces of wood with striking grain patterns and a finely carved spruce top, showcasing elegant curves and expert workmanship. Despite its age, the violin is in remarkable condition with expected wear from age. There is one small crack on the back, but it’s hardly noticeable and should not impact the sound significantly.
