Description from the seller
Beautiful edition of this set of two works by Jules Verne, part of the Voyages Extraordinaires series, in a beautiful Hetzel binding called 'Aux Deux Eléphants'.
In the first, Godfrey, nephew of a wealthy man, dreams of traveling the world before getting married. His uncle prepares a boat, a crew, supplies, and off he goes with a peculiar companion, his dance teacher. But they are shipwrecked and find themselves two survivors on an island...
The green ray belongs to a kind of novels in which the great author takes some distance from science (and scientists) and offers a bit more room for feelings and legends.
At the end of the book, there is the simple illustrated joke 'Ten Hours in Hunting'.
Jules Verne / Léon Benett - The School of Robinsons / The Green Ray - SD (Circa 1890) - J. Hetzel et Cie
202 + 195 pages.
Good condition of the binding, the work in its red edition percaline, with signs of use, rubbed corners and headbands, cold-stamped borders framing the covers, a spine with four elegantly decorated nerves, with gilded titles and author's name.
Very good interior condition, light foxing, work adorned with beautiful engravings both within and outside the text, including a frontispiece, vignette on the title page, and blue endpapers.
Delivery service guaranteed within a few days.
