Small oval portrait in oil mixed media on rigid support, depicting – according to iconographic tradition – Ludwig van Beethoven, the famous German composer. The subject is portrayed with the unmistakable severe and intense physiognomy: gray, disheveled hair, high forehead, deep and focused gaze, elements that recall the most well-known official portraits of the musician.

The clothing, consisting of a wide white collar and a red tie beneath a dark cloak, recalls European cultured fashion from the late 18th to early 19th century, consistent with Beethovenian iconography. The execution, meticulous and of notable miniaturist quality, highlights a refined control of chiaroscuro and particular attention to the psychological expressiveness of the face.

The work is set in an oval, period frame made of gilded wood, with an original patina and slight signs of wear consistent with its age.
