Arie-Kees van Noort (Adriaan Cornelis van Noort) was a Dutch painter born in 1914 and died in 2003. After his schooling, in 1928, he worked in his father's painting company. In the evenings, he took drawing and painting lessons from the eccentric Haarlem painter Henri Fréderic Boot, who also mentored great artists such as Kees Verwey and Anton Heijboer. During the day, Van Noort worked as a house painter, and in the evenings, he painted in his room. Although beach scenes and, to a lesser extent, flower bulb fields form the main part of his work, he also painted cityscapes, winter landscapes, genre scenes, and still lifes. He preferred to go out with his easel and painting box to 'en plein air' to capture his world. In 1942, he was accepted as a member of the society 'Kunst zij ons Doel.' Exhibitions in Basel, Knokke, Geneva, and Paris were well received by the public. A.C. van Noort is considered either the last representative of the Hague School or an impressionist painter in the French tradition.
