It notably contains remarks of great interest on the association of ideas. In the 18th century, it is a book directly precursor to Freud's 'Science of Dreams' ('French Precursors of Psychiatry and Psychoanalysis', No. 5561); Caillet, 9401; Guaita, 2052, 'very rare'.
Vintage copy in period binding, havana calf with porphyry. Smooth spine, with a title piece and gold tooling. - Losses at the headbands, ends of the boards cracked, one corner pierced. Overall interior is fresh, with a burn mark on the leaf of pages 211-212 and slight loss of one or two words (see photos). Condition is fair.
