Maurice Lemaître (1929–2018)
A discreet yet prolific French painter, Maurice Lemaître established himself through a body of work deeply connected to rural landscapes and provincial atmospheres. Born in 1929, he developed a sensitive eye for the light of the French countryside early on, which he expressed through warm figurative painting attentive to the seasons, villages, and peaceful horizons.
His work, widely represented in public sales, demonstrates a great stylistic consistency: balanced compositions, soft colors, serene scenes featuring orchards, ponds, tree-lined paths, or views of villages in Île-de-France, Brittany, or Pas-de-Calais.
