AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Hermès Silk Scarf "The Italian Comedy"

Designer: Philippe Ledoux

The Italian Comedy, more commonly known in Italy as the Commedia Dell'Arte. It has its roots in the laughter festivals that are the foundation of large carnivals. This genre is attributed to the first comedy troupes with masks that appeared in 1528.

Commedia dell'arte is a genre of popular theater where masked actors improvise comedies marked by naïveté, cunning, and ingenuity. Performances took place on trestle tables. The comedy was mainly physical (slapstick). Among the comic characters, there are schemers (Scapin), fools, intrigants, cowards or lovers (Pierrot), and followers (Colombine, who is sometimes like a young lady from a good family).

In this square, the set is theatrical (curtain) and the actors are represented with their names.

Published in 1962, reprinted in 1993.

Quite rare and sought after by collectors.

In embroidered silk with mandolins.

Was very good.
